Blair Wright, HR Partner at Fox Williams, reveals what she does on a typical working day.
1. What time do you usually wake up?
7am
2. What’s your morning routine?
I do a 30 minute HIIT workout, run or a walk to wake me up, then I sit down and have a green tea (starting the day healthy!). While drinking my tea I might write in my diary, gratitude journal or read a quote from ‘The Daily Stoic’.
3. What do you do on your morning commute?
If I’m walking I absorb the hustle and bustle of London, or if I’m on the Tube I listen to a podcast. I love ‘The Diary of a CEO’, ‘On Purpose’ and ‘Happy Place’.
4. What’s the first thing you do when you get to the office?
Chat to the team to see how everyone is doing, what they did the night before, or if there’s anything new or interesting happening in their lives. I also ensure I fill my water bottle!
5. Do you listen to anything whilst working?
Sadly not. If I have music I start singing (which no one needs to hear) or dancing (which no one needs to see). The only exception is at Christmas time – I do love a bit of festive music!
6. What is your typical lunchtime routine?
I try to get out in the fresh air, even if only for 10 minutes. I try for 30 minutes if I can.
7. What’s the best lunch spot near your office?
We are really lucky to have Finsbury Square Gardens opposite the office, so we can sit on the grass in the summer and enjoy the sunshine.
8. What do you do to beat the ‘afternoon slump’?
Tea and chocolate biscuits – what else?
9. What snacks can be found on your desk?
Nuts and apricots.
10. What do you typically do for dinner?
I really got into Mindful Chef during lockdown. It’s revolutionised my dinners! It provides a variety of recipes each week, good quality food and less waste. Previously, I only had two or three meals I could cook so it did get a bit boring.
11. What are the best dinner spots near your office?
We’ve got a few options in Broadgate Circle which are nice, but I like to meet friends in different areas of London to enjoy the variety the city offers.
12. How do you wind down in the evening?
Dinner and a glass of wine with my husband.
13. Any film or TV show recommendations?
I’ve just finished watching ‘The Capture’ which I really enjoyed.
14. What time do you usually go to bed?
Usually 11pm.
15. Do you have any top tips on those days you work from home?
I like the routine when I WFH. I do a lot more exercise due to the time saved from the lack of commute. I can get my head down and focus better, so I take my breaks regularly. I also drink more water – the office is always busy so I can forget to drink water during the day!
16. What are your interests outside of work?
I see my family and friends a lot, and I’ve just taken up golf which I’m really enjoying!
