Is the legal sector destined for DE&I failure if we don’t do more to support female caregivers? – webinar

As law firms strive to tackle ongoing DE&I challenges to meet targets, is there one key factor being overlooked which holds the key to it all? With a bias towards female caregiving responsibilities well documented, is the sector destined for failure against these targets without increased focus on the impact of caregiving?

Please join us for our upcoming webinar on Tuesday 2nd July with our friends at Yurtle. In this session we’ll explore how caregiving is impacting women in leadership, the gender pay gap and the gender pension gap.

Key stats which may be useful:

  • 64% of all carers are women, rising to 80% when factoring in parental responsibilities
  • Women are over four times as likely to work term-time only than their male counterparts
  • Women are three times more represented in job-share arrangements, with senior roles often offering less flexibility
  • Women are three times more likely to work part-time than men, contributing heavily to gender pay gap
  • On average, a 64-year-old man has £139,451 more in his pension pot than a female equivalent

About Yurtle:

Yurtle is an insurance-based employee wellness benefit helping companies to combat caregiver burnout (and the associated productivity and employee turnover losses) in the workplace. Care breakdown prevention is at the core of our solution, spanning child, elder and specialised care.

We leverage our deep, first-hand understanding of the drivers of burnout to provide a solution that provides a tangible financial benefit through a novel employee insurance cover as well as a caregiver support app that allows carers to build a resilient care team around them.

The insurance component of our solution, powered by a global insurer, covers accident and illness and, in the event of a claim, pays beneficiaries to cover the cost of sourcing replacement care, anywhere in the UK, within hours. Outside of emergencies, our digital care management app minimises workplace absence and care breakdown by connecting employees with educational information, curated discounts from care service providers, and engagement tools to help family share the care.

Aaron Dryden – Carer Experience Lead
For more than 20 years, Aaron has worked in various disability and carers charities, including most recently his role as Director of Carer Support at Carers UK where he gave evidence to a Parliamentary Select Committee on caregiving. Aaron also holds postgraduate governance qualifications with an interest in HR and culture.

Hollie Nairn – Head of Sales
Hollie has spent over a decade working for some of the leading employee benefits providers; Aviva, Unum, L&G and Buck. During this time she’s worked with many employers, helping them to support the wellbeing of their people through a vast range of insurances and support services, so has seen first-hand the growing need to support caregivers in the workplace.
